What is NOAH?

NOAH is an Energy Intelligence Platform that brings your complete energy system into one place. It monitors connected assets down to the millisecond, turns that data into real-time insight, and actively controls your energy system from a single asset to your entire portfolio.

Does NOAH work with my existing installations?

Yes. NOAH is designed to work with existing energy installations as well as new ones. Our gateways connect compatible assets and systems into one platform, allowing you to add NOAH without rebuilding your entire energy infrastructure. As your system grows, new assets and locations can be added to the same environment.

How long does it take to implement NOAH?

Implementation depends on the size and complexity of your energy system. Once the required NOAH hardware is installed and your assets are connected and configured, the platform can go live quickly. We define the integration upfront, so you know what is required before implementation starts.

If I don’t have any issues with grid congestion, do I still need an EMS?

Yes. Grid congestion is only one reason to use NOAH. It also helps you control peaks, understand how your assets perform, make better use of locally generated and stored energy, and monitor multiple sites and assets from one platform. If your energy system changes later, you already have the data and control infrastructure in place to respond.

Am I locked into specific hardware with NOAH?

No, your energy assets do not need to come from one manufacturer. NOAH uses its own gateway and control hardware to create a reliable connection to the platform, while integrating compatible PV systems, batteries, EV chargers, generators and other installations from different suppliers.

Why is NOAH different from all the other EMS suppliers?

Most traditional EMS platforms are built around interval-based monitoring. NOAH goes further: it measures connected assets down to the millisecond and combines that visibility with real-time control. That means you don’t just see what happened; NOAH can respond while it is happening, across individual assets, sites and your entire portfolio.

What if I cannot create sufficient capacity within my current energy system?

NOAH shows you where your available capacity is being used, when limits are reached and which assets are driving demand. If the capacity within your current system is not enough, that data gives you a clear basis for the next step, whether that means adding storage, generation or additional connection capacity.

Can NOAH also integrate with my building management system?

Yes. NOAH can exchange data with compatible building and energy management systems, depending on the available interfaces and communication protocols. We review your existing setup first and determine the most effective way to connect it.

What is the return on investment for NOAH?

The return depends on your energy system and how you use it. NOAH can create value by reducing unnecessary peaks, increasing the use of locally generated and stored energy, improving asset performance and helping you make better investment decisions based on real data. During the assessment, we look at your specific situation to identify where that value can be created.

For whom is NOAH built?

NOAH is built for organizations running a portfolio of energy assets — Grid, PV, BESS, EV chargers, generators — across one or more sites, especially where available grid capacity is a constraint. That includes facility managers who need a clear overview, technical teams who need real-time data & control, and decision-makers who need to know their energy system can grow with the business.

What kind of service and support comes with NOAH?

NOAH combines the platform with hands-on support. Assets supplied by Van Gooi Energy Systems include direct remote support from a technician, for fault-finding and fine-tuning your system’s settings, so uptime stays high without you having to manage it yourself.

What if I have a smaller question, like help logging in?

Our integrated chatbot is available to assist you right away for smaller questions. For anything else, our team is reachable and picks up support tickets during office hours.

What is grid congestion, and how does NOAH help?

Grid congestion occurs when available grid capacity cannot keep up with demand or feed-in at certain times. NOAH helps you make better use of the connection you already have by monitoring demand in real time, controlling flexible assets and preventing unnecessary peaks. That gives you more room to operate and grow without simply waiting for additional grid capacity or investing in assets like BESS and PV.

Is my data secure with NOAH?

Protecting customer data is a core part of NOAH’s architecture. Access to the platform and energy data is managed securely, with permissions based on the customer environment. Detailed information about data hosting, access and security can be provided as part of the implementation process.

What happens if the internet or grid connection goes down?

If the internet connection drops, NOAH’s local controllers continue monitoring and controlling your connected assets on-site. Cloud visibility is restored once the connection returns. If the grid itself goes down, what happens depends on your site design. For example, systems equipped for island operation can continue running within their configured capabilities.

How is Van Gooi Energy Systems related to NOAH?

NOAH is developed by Van Gooi Energy Systems, combining the platform with decades of experience in electrical control and energy systems. That means the same technical expertise extends from software and control to the physical energy assets and infrastructure behind it.

Does NOAH work outside the Netherlands?

Yes. NOAH is built to support energy systems and portfolios across multiple locations and countries. Implementation is adapted to the local infrastructure, electrical requirements and assets at each site.

What’s the pricing model? Subscription or one-time cost?

NOAH is tailored to your energy system, so pricing depends on the number of locations, connected assets and level of control required. The solution typically combines the required hardware and integration with an ongoing subscription to the NOAH platform. After assessing your setup, we provide a clear proposal for both.

Why does NOAH combine cloud software with local controllers?

Because speed matters. A cloud round trip typically takes 50 to 500 milliseconds, too slow for the split-second control NOAH is built for. That’s why NOAH uses local controllers on-site for millisecond-level monitoring and control, while the cloud brings data together across sites for visibility, history and analysis. The result: fast local control and one clear view of your entire energy system.

Can NOAH help me with reporting for EPBD?

NOAH brings your energy data together across locations and assets, giving you a reliable data foundation for reporting and analysis. Depending on your reporting requirements, the relevant data can be made available for use in your reporting process.
